Potatoes are a staple food in many parts of the world.Originally from South America, the Peru Inca women domesticated it. Most of the world’s varieties are still in South America. They are a staple food in many parts of the world and an integral part of much of the world’s food suply.
Potatoes can be eaten at any time of the day. Domincans can have them as part of any meal and snacks. It doesn’t really matter the time of day for a potato to be part of a meal.

LOOK FOR: Smooth, well shaped. dirm potatoes that are free from blemishes or sprouts. Large cuts or bruises mean waste impending.
TO STORE: Store in a dark, dry place at coolest room temperature (do not refrigerate.) Will keep a week or so.
TO PREPARE: Scrub in cold water. When possible, cook without peeling (you’ll save nutrients). After peeling, use quickly to avoic descoloration or loss of food value. You can put in salted water for a while to avoid this.
TO COOK: For boiled potatoes, in saucepan over medium heat, in 1 inch of boiling, salted water, heat potatoes to boiling; cover and cook new potatoes 15-20 minutes; general – purpose potatoes to boiling; general-purpose potatoes about 30 minutes.
