Guacamole

I have made guacamole as long as I can remember. The first time I went to Mexico, I learned how to make it properly. It is one of my favorite ways to eat avocados. And lately I am really liking avocado toast.

Guacamole

Ingredients

  • Ripe Avocados (3 Hass?)
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • Fresh cilantro to taste
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ½ large tomato finely diced
  • ½ tsp olive oil (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, remove the seeds (optional)
Tips

The thing about guacamole is that you make it following the recipe the first time. Then, from then on, you start changing it according to your taste. Some people like to add a little bit of Salsa. I like to just start adding things and tasting it to see if I need more of this or that.

Make Avocado Toast with your Guacamole, or just slice a Hass avocado, place on toast, add parmessan, salt and pepper, and anything else you would like to pile on top. Bake and serve.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Mash avocados. If you have a morter or Molcajete, like the one pictured, you have an easier time.

Step 2

Add all ingredients and mix lightly. You don’t want to mash the avocados all the way.

Step 3

Serve with tortilla chips.

(Hint: to keep dip from turning dark keep pits in dip until serving time.)
